Rosemont Addition 3
Designed 2013

This project is a renovation and addition to an apartment on the second floor of an existing two-storey building. Clad in a rich charcoal-coloured brick and fiber-cement panels, the new addition is designed to contrast with the golden brick of the original building and an earlier ground floor addition that houses the functional spaces of the restaurant on the ground floor. The addition provides space for the new living spaces under a 12 foot high ceiling with an exposed wood structure. A large sheltered terrace and a wide cantilevered balcony adjacent to the living spaces are accessed through large patio doors that bathe the interior in daylight. The existing apartment is reconfigured to provide space for a large master bedroom with walk-in closet and a private bathroom, as well as an office/guest room and service spaces. The exterior includes a brick screen wall designed to balance the composition and hide the equipment behind the restaurant.
