Morin Heights House
Designed 2003

Morin Heights House is a country house designed for a sloping site in the Laurentians and sited to protect a natural ravine. The passive solar strategies at the basis of the design maximise the southern exposure and the majestic views. The living spaces on two levels are open to each other and connected directly to exterior patios and balconies overlooking a large private yard. The interior is animated by an exposed laminated timber structure, wood finishes, integrated furniture, a sculptural stair and a cathedral ceiling on the main level. The exterior combines stone masonry with stained wood siding and large glass surfaces. The sustainable features integrated into the house include non-toxic finishes and hardwood floors, a geothermal heating system, and high-performance windows protected with deep roof overhangs.
