Rosemont Renovation 2
Completed 2011

This project converts a triplex on two floors into a single-family home. The new layout of the ground floor creates an open-plan living space from the front to the back of the house. The kitchen, dining and living rooms share this space, which is modulated and given order by a new exposed wood structure. An open staircase on the edge of the space rises through the structure to a skylight, bringing light down all the way to the basement. The bedrooms and main bathrooms are laid out on the second floor, each with abundant natural light and generous floor space. The front façade was completely changed and reflects the rationality of the interior layout as well as integrating sunscreens to modulate solar heat gains. The building envelope is energy-efficient, meeting the requirements of Rénoclimat. The heating and air-conditioning system is a geothermal heat pump. This project was completed in collaboration with engineers Calculatec and with general contractor Les Entreprise G3F.
