Conception 2017
Maison Origami is a renovation and addition to a family cottage on Lac des Trois Montagnes designed to be comfortable for a couple yet capable of receiving the expanded family. A folded rof with asymmetrical slopes shelters the addition, a large space with a single floor plus mezzanine. High ceilings, exposed structure, and simple, natural materials give character to the interiors of the renovated chalet. All the living spaces are oriented towards the lake, and the main living space is partially covered by the mezzanine that will serve as a dormitory for the grandchildren. Two separate offices also enjoy views of nature and convert to guest rooms when the need arises. The kitchen and dining room open directly onto a large terrace that faces the lake as well. The master bedroom has a separate terrace that leads to a garden along the stream, providing a private getaway for the owners. The chalet was designed to be ecological, according to LEED and Novoclimat 2.0 standards.
